Our History

From the forming of the club in 1958, the opening on the 3rd August 1962 and every volcanic eruption since, we've had a varied and full history.

In this section, our members past & present tell you in words and pictures all about what it's like to be a part of our club, and everything they've done in the surrounding Tongariro region.

AGM 1959

MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING HELD TUESDAY, 24TH MARCH 1959
IN THE ALLIANCE HALL, EDEN TERRACE


The Meeting opened at 8.10 p.m. Mr J. Woollett in the Chair.

APOLOGIES: were received from Mr & Mrs F Dickson and Miss J Dickson.

BALANCE SHEET: The Balance Sheet was presented and received and adopted on the motion of Misses Woollett and E. Dixon.

SUBSCRIPTIONS: That the present subscription be endorsed was moved and seconded by Mr K. Waugh and Miss M. Woollett.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP: A discussion was held on Junior Membership and the matter left to the Committee to proceed with at a later date.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: The following members were elected to office for the ensuing year:- (Nominations received in accordance with the Constitution)
Patron: Sir John Collins, High Commissioner for Australia.
President: Mr D. McElvogue.
Vice Presidents: Mr K. Waugh.
Mr J. Fullagar.
Secretary: Miss T.J. Edwards.
Treasurer: Mr Donald Rolfe
Committee: Miss M. Woollett
Miss E. Dixon

NOMINATED FROM THE MEETING:
Mr I Fordyce (Miss E Dixon, Mr J Roxburgh)
Mr R Crum (Mr K Waugh, Miss Edwards)
Mr P O'Malley (Mr D McElvogue, Mr K Waugh)
Auditor: Mr I Runnerstrum (Mrs K Waugh, Miss Woollett)

GENERAL: Names were taken of volunteers to work the Quick Raffle stalls.

Miss B. Kay offered the use of her father's truck.

Mr D. McElvogue offered to teach the ladies lampshade making, and those interested in learning submitted their names.

Mr K. Waugh advised that his mother, Mrs W. Waugh would manage a Jumble Sale and the offer was accepted on the motion of Miss Edwards and Mr Fordyce.

Misses M. Woollett and J. Dixon moved and seconded that the Committee accept any 1960/61 subscriptions that are offered by members.
